Transport Manager

Broughton Transport is a growing logistics company based in Wiltshire, specialising in UK and international haulage and pallet transport, including temperature-controlled and ambient distribution. About the role
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, Health and Safety, you'll safeguard the company's Operator Licence and drive a culture of compliance and safety excellence throughout the transport operation. This is a hands-on role covering:
- Operator Licence Compliance – acting as nominated Transport Manager, maintaining effective management control of the operation, and preparing for compliance audits
- Driver Compliance – monitoring driver hours, working time, and tachograph compliance; managing infringements, debriefs, and investigations; ensuring licences, Driver CPC, and right-to-work documentation are valid
- Vehicle Compliance – overseeing maintenance schedules, MOTs, safety inspections, defect reporting, and accurate record-keeping
- Regulatory Compliance – keeping up to date with UK and European transport legislation, including Driver Hours Regulations, the Working Time Directive, Operator Licensing Regulations, and Driver CPC requirements
- Auditing and Reporting – conducting compliance audits, producing KPIs and management reports, and implementing corrective actions
- International Transport Compliance – ensuring compliance with UK-EU transport regulations and supporting drivers with border procedures
What we're looking for
- Experience as a Transport Manager, ideally holding (or working towards) a CPC in Road Haulage
- Strong working knowledge of Operator Licensing, driver hours, tachograph, and Driver CPC requirements
- A proactive, detail-focused approach to compliance, audit readiness, and risk reduction
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to manage driver debriefs and investigations fairly and effectively
- Experience with UK and European/international transport compliance is desirable
